Dear Parents and members of the IS Havana community
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
It is my fond hope that the coming year will be one of happiness, success for all – students, parents, and teachers alike - as we follow our Mission of Learning to make a difference as a true Learning Community.
Personally, I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to try and help the school community approach the coming school year.
Most significantly as the world emerges from the Covid 19 pandemic and we begin to get back to something approaching what we used to consider as ‘normal’ I hope we can all look forward to forging a productive partnership together; the teachers’ aim I am sure is the same as your own; to provide learning experiences whereby your children will be challenged, supported, and excited about their learning.
It is my belief that a successful school, is founded around the parent school partnership; your children, our students, need support not only from the school but also from you at home. Together we can and will make a positive impact upon each of our students’ education.
I believe that we can and will shape confident, capable learners and good citizens in every one of our students.
Of course, we face some challenges; the issue of local electricity blackouts is one of them. We are fortunate to be able to be reasonably sure that we have in place contingency plans. These plans anticipate that the disruption to the learning environments on both campuses will be minimised, if not, eliminated.
I am pleased to be able to publish the school’s revised Covid 19 Protocols, produced by our school Nurse, Ms. Kareli.
We are going to make special exceptions on certain days to try and enable you as parents to feel more at home at the start of this school year. I feel as if I am a part of the family that the school has created over the years once again; it is a privilege and a joy to me.
