Message from the Director

It is my great honour and privilege to be serving the diplomatic and expatriate community of Havana as the Director of ISH since June 2016.  Having grown substantially from its humble beginnings in a house on a hill with only 10 students in 1965, the International School of Havana now has over 400 students from more than 60 different countries with construction of its third campus beginning this year.

ISH is situated in an exciting place in both space and time.  Located in the historic Miramar district of the vibrant city of Havana, the school is also poised to enter a dynamic phase in its own history. Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, ISH started the next 50 with an enthusiastic view towards the future.

While academic excellence constitutes the solid foundation upon which our community is built, we are also dedicated to meeting the needs of the whole child to ensure they become responsible and contributing citizens of our global community.  ISH students from the Early Years to High School will be engaged in a variety of activities designed to foster their physical, intellectual and emotional growth.

You will see that we offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the ISH Graduation Diploma Programmes for students in Grades 11 and 12 as well as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for students in Grades 9 and 10.

Lower School students are able to learn through the International Primary Curriculum as well as literacy and numeracy classes and specialist subject courses as well that are based upon the standards of the national Curriculum of England.

This website is a portal for both students and parents to help you understand our fundamental philosophy and objectives as well as our mission and vision. With a fundamental commitment to student-centred education, ISH offers a full and varied curricular and co-curricular program, designed to provide a rigorous journey of learning for each and every student.

We believe that parents are partners in learning and our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides considerable support for our students’ learning as well as organizing social activities in the wider community.

Whether you are a prospective parent or student, an existing ISH community member, or a teacher seeking employment in a professionally rewarding environment, I invite you to explore our website to find out further information about our wonderful school.
